When you put a sand dollar in bleach, how long can you wait once you take it out to harden it?
I have a bunch of sand dollars from cedar key florida and I want to do stuff with them and sell them. I am going to be putting them in blech soon and was wondering, when I take them out do I have to put the glue stuff on the immediately? Also does anyone have any good ideas for sand dollar crafts

- You can take them out right away to let them dry our. Put them in a little bleach then lay them out in the sun. If they are still dark put them back in the bleach. It takes a couple of days and they will smell so put them away from the house.
- There is a product for sand dollars that hardens and whitens them, coincidentally known as "Sand Dollar Hardener & Whitener" I have no idea where you would find it but here is a picture of it: http://www.seashellworld.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=s8060 You can also use a mixture of 1 part water and 1 part glue to harden them. Find a clear vase and fill it partially with sand. Place place a few sand dollars inside. The vase could be large or small. You could add a few seashells as well: http://www.potterybarn.com/products/p10307/index.cfm?pkey=caccvaccal Similar idea but using candle holders: http://www.crateandbarrel.com/candleholders/home-accessories/3 Frame the sand dollar with or without the legend: http://www.legendofthesanddollar.com/ My daughter received a sand dollar as a gift. They drilled a hole through the shell and hung it by a ribbon.
