Kids Crafts?

Anyone know any good crafts for kids 6-10 that arent very expensive? I like to do crafts with the little ones i babysit we have already done : soap, picture frames, and cookies. Supplies isn't a big deal and if It could a christmas present for mom and dad that'd be fine too or a holiday craft..

  1. I've done watercolors and taught the kids I babysit how to make simple balloon animals. They really loved that, and it was inexpensive and easy. Even if you don't know how to make them, it will take you literally 10 minutes to learn how to make about 3 animals. Start with teaching them how to make a dog. They loved it how they could make it themselves and were really proud of it. It's not really holiday, but I hope that it helps.
  2. painting or drawing r even building or clay or playdough
  3. I bought a piece of Garland from K-Mart 9.99. then cut all the wired greenery off with wire cutters. Have the kids bend into a circle and twist the wire to form a wreath. Then I took small ribbon and wrapped around the wreath, glued little "ornaments" on them and afterward - I hot glued a piece of magnet to the back. these work GREAT for fridge magnets, ornamentation on a gift package - or even on a bottle of wine! The kids loved making them too.

  5. Get a sack of those clear flat back "marbles", the kind you put in plants and flower vases. Cut out small images from old magazines and glue to the flat back so the picture shows through the glass. Beacon's Liquid Laminate is a good product to use as it dries fast and clear, otherwise white glue will do, just takes longer and may not leave the image as clear. Once you have accumulated a lot of these little picture marbles, Glue them to a piece of Masonite or MDF about 8" square and fill in the spaces with grout. You will have a unique hot pad/trivet for Mom. This same technique can be used on flat picture frames. They can be made more personal if a couple of the marbles have photos of the kids behind them. These marble pictures also make excellent refrigerator magnets.
  6. Here is a variety of sites with lots of free projects. Many are designed for kids. I am sure there are more, but thses look like they have a great selection.
