  1. I'd try a simple google search first off, but if you're looking to get them a little quicker I'm pretty sure it's sold commonly in Aquarium supply stores.

  3. You can also color your own "white" sand (though it may be coarser sand than you might want for some projects, depending on the type you buy). It can be done in several ways, but here's one set of instructions from eHow (I'm copying in because my browser almost wouldn't bring the page up and it may be overloaded right now, etc.): "Add water to each bowl until the sand is submerged, but no more. Add food coloring or dye (Rit dye, or Kool Aid powder?) to each bowl. Stir the mixture, and allow it to sit for an hour. After an hour, check each of your bowls. If the shade of color is still too light, allow it to sit for another hour. If you are pleased with the color, pour out the water, and spread the sand on a flat surface to dry." 4. We did this at the camp I was counseling for. What we did was take the molding sand, (its similar to Moon Sand on TV) and we crushed chalk and mixed that with the sand. It worked great. After we put them in some class containers. I think that purchased coloured sand would be a tad expensive anyway, and less fun. I suggest that the kids use a way to colour them.
