im teaching a class on outdoor/camping safety to young kids.any suggestions on how to keep attention or crafts? It should be about 45 minutes to an hour. i dont know what to tell them and i dont want to lose their attention. They are daisys and brownies in girl scouts so their pretty young. im thinking on doing a craft with them but i dont know how i could do that with safety. Please help!

Activity ideas for kids with mental disabilities? I work for a day camp that works with kids with mental and physical disabilities. I am a camp counselor and in charge of keeping the kids entertained when we are not doing camp activities. We were told at the training that each activity should be no longer than 15 minutes. Need Arts and crafts ideas!!!? Okay so I'm an arts and crafts coordinator at a summer camp for kids ages 4 to 12... Help! Hospitality question! I want to bring something CAMPING to share with everyone...? I am just not any good at planning I guess? My hospitality sucks. Every year we go camping with 4 friends and their kids- the other moms always have goodies and snacks to share with everyone, and I am at a loss! They always have great ideas and I can't think of anything that would go over great. The kids are between 5 and 11 years old. I wish just once I could be the hit of the party, but they seem to always beat me to the punch! Do summer camps help kids or not really? I am a SAHM with a 9 yr old. She is happy to be home all day in summer- reading books, playing in the backyard, going for walks in nearby hills, going to the park, library, and swimming lessons & playing with 5 yr old brother & friends. She never whines "I am bored". We also go camping 3-4 times and couple 3 day short vacations. I'd like her to try out 1 or 2 one-week 1/2 day camps in the summer-arts&craft, science, dance, sports or ANYTHING she'd like. She says no. Her school year is fairly busy, and no time to try out new stuff, and will be even busier in 4th grade next year. I can't wait till the summer and then enroll her if she gets bored, as camps in our area fill by early April. In the past, I have enrolled her myself, she has gone after a little cajoling and enjoyed herself a lot. Do camps really help? Do kids need them? Shld I again convince her or save money and energy this year??

science electricity project idea for kids ages 7-10 (need to last four 45 minute time periods)? i need an electricity project for a craft type of thing to do at a camp that i am involved in this summer for kids ages 7 to 10. there would be approx. 120 kids, i'd see about 30 of them at a time, i'd only have them for the craft for 45 minutes per group of 30 kids. the craft/project needs to take up around 180-225 minutes (a four to five day craft/project that you can do small parts of in 45 minutes per day because the camp only lasts 5 days and while they are at it they are doing other things throughout the days). i've thought about the light bulb thing where you get a battery and some wire and you make it light up kind of thing but that doesn't take very long.. oh yeah, they camp budget is approx. $5 per child. any ideas or at least border ideas that would help me start would be great, thanks for anything you might have. ;)

What is better YMCA or Boys & Girls Club? I have three little ones, 7, 6 & 2 (all girls). I am on a budget and the closest center to my home is the Y. After applying to the club for low income, it wasn't much of reduction for it's enrollment and fees. I would also like to know which club has more to offer my kids.
