Crafts Using Only Paper? My friend is in charge of crafts for the kids at her school, and she only has paper to work with (kids aren't allowed to cut and there isn't anything like glue or yawn). What can she do for crafts that isn't as complicated as origami? EDIT: These kids are between 4-8 years old, I'm not sure if origami is going to work out for them. They had enough trouble making paper spiders the other day using precut pieces of paper.

Crafts for kids with Special needs...? My mom works in an elementary classroom with kids with special needs. That includes kids with down syndrome, autism, and kids that learn slower than others. She does crafts with them once a week. So far they have strung cheerios on string and made paper chains. These crafts would have to be VERY simple and not very messy. She was hoping for something that she wouldn't have to go step by step with them on. Thanks so much!!

How can I make a paper camera? Not one of those real, pinhole ones.. just as an arts&crafts project for a kid? I remember making one when I was little and it had previously done drawings of friends and family members that you could pull out of the bottom. The whole thing was folded in a special way to make it work pretty neat, I just can't remember how. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

What are some really easy Valentine crafts for kids 4-7? Needs to be really easy, use cheap things normally found in a classroom (think glue, paper, scissors), and needs to be doable by a group of about 20 kids (so minimal adult help). Would love any sites that list great things for holidays, too.
I am trying to remember the steps to a kids craft project? Years ago I made "suncatchers" with kids. The kids colored in a pattern that was on regular white paper (I think they were supposed to use colored pencils, but it could have been crayons or markers). Once they colored the pattern in, they placed some baby oil on a cotton ball and rubbed the oil on the back side of the pattern. This created a glassy type effect. After the oil dried, a hole was punched at the top and a string was looped through in order to hang the "sun catcher". Has anyone heard of this project? I would just like to know if I have remembered the details of the project properly. Thanks
Ideas on recycling Styrofoam/Polystyrene or an alternative for KIDS CRAFTS? As a basic project for kids print making a small square of Styrofoam is used to make an indent for the print. After the indent, it is coated with paint then the image is transfered to a clean piece of paper. The Styrofoam has a short, yet essential role in this project, and then it is thrown away. How would I recycle this, or is there a different, eco-friendly material that makes indents just as clear? I have researched on earth911.com I can mail this out to a company but would it be acceptable covered in paint? Please let me know of any ideas or alternatives! Styrofoam takes around 500 years to bio-degrade!
Low-supervision-required crafts for kids at a wedding? Theres going to be a great deal of kids at my wedding. I kind of wanted to keep it to 12years old and older... but I was talked into letting family bring their young kids. I'm a preschool teacher and have a real softspot for kids.. and easily got suckered in. Becuase I am a preschool teacher - I dont know WHY this is seeming so difficult! I want to set up a kids corner, with a table with some activities.. I dont want anything messy (crayons only, no markers or paint).. and all I can think of so far is crayons and paper. That will keep kids busy for what? all of 5 minutes? .. There will be about 6 kids there under 8, and about 10 kids there between 8-14. I'm kind of looking for something for those kids to do too. (3 of them are my siblings, ages at the time will be 8, 10, and 11 - and I know they're not going to go dance and stuff).. (its a beach wedding... not formal, more casual/cocktail like - and we rented a pavilion that we have to set up and decorate ourselves).. If I'm able to give the kids a good amount of space (room for a table and some floor space) I'll probably also give them puzzles.. I was also thinking of like goodie bag things that i used to get as a kid..you know like those games where you try to get the little silver ball into the hole? its like a maze?..and one of those like paddles where the bouncy ball is attached by a string and you need to keep hitting it... I'm praying that it wont rain on this date..the wedding starts at 7 and is in the summer so we'll have at least an hour and a half of daylight where the kids can actually be outside.. and hopefully the place will be well lit enough so that they can even stay outside after it gets dark (The place is very opened, lots of windows.. with a huge wrap around porch type thing - so the kids would ALWAYS be in view.. and for younger kids obviously parents need to be there if they're outside).. Soo.. any other suggestions? While it would be beneficial for weather to be great, i need backup activities incase weathers not great!! Something not messy that doesnt require constant supervision.
will hairspray seal kids glitter pictures? my kids did glitter pictures (construction paper) for Christmas crafts. i was wondering if it would work to spray over them with hairspray to at least preserve them for this season. i don't have access to a laminating machine, nor do i have the specialty spray or poly spray. i just don't want to spray them with hairspray and ruin them for them... but would like to do something so all the glitter doesn't fall off while it hangs on the wall this holiday.
Christmas arts and crafts for the kids on Christmas Eve? We like to do crafty type stuff on Christmas Eve, for fun and to make the time go by quicker. We used to do place mats (drawings or cut-outs on big pieces of construction paper when they were little) but the kids are getting a little old and bored with place mats. We need a good Christmas project. Nothing expensive; our craft box is already pretty full, so we already have lots of supplies. They are boys, so no angels or frilly things (mom gets outvoted....) Anybody have any good ideas? Also, we avoid crush-able projects, because we like to keep our works of art from year to year. Thank you in advance for your help and please, no rude answers - Merry Christmas!
Does anyone know any good, kid friendly activities and crafts based on the book "Where the Wild things are"? i need it for a "book kit" im making for little kids in hospitals. I got making your own crown to be "king of the wild things" and letting the kids make and color "their own wild thing". Does anyone know any more craft ideas and maybe some websites i can find coloring pages or paper activities based on the book? Thanks!
Paper trimmer for paper art, try to find the 'right' one for myself? I am into paper crafts, often I need to have trim (cut) paper into right angles. I brought one of those rulers with grid on it, hope that will help with cutting right angle. Well, yes, better but still hard and slow, takes a long time, not too accurate. I am thinking about buying a paper trimmer, such as those use for scrapbooking. The prices are around like $40sth. The measurement is in inch. And they are those 'sliding cut' (for kid-safe reason?). But I am not a kid and I think 'chop cut' is more useful for me. (some of my paper is soft and cannot cut by 'slide' motion) *********************************************************************** So does anyone know where I can get a CHOP CUT paper trimmer, with CENTIMETER measurement grid? And how much does it cost? (approximate?) I like in BC, Canada. *********************************************************************** I don't have a credit card or master card, so I cannot buy anything online.

Ideas for easy and interesting Christmas crafts for kids? I have a 7 yr old boy who hasnt been in school for a month, and for some strange reason...is getting bored. I think its too early yet to start decorating, but I think making crafts would be great. not only as decorations for us, but also to give as gifts from him. We have done those 'foamies', but I'm not overly fond of those. We are going to make paper chains, when I get some construction paper. I KNOW there are crafty people here, any suggestions? (he's 7, and my poor brain is fried--easy to do and inexpensive, PLEASE!) Thanks!
How do you make a christmas reef craft out of paper plates? I am just looking for a simple craft project to do with the kids. I looked online and it said to look for leaves outside. I own a daycare and I am just trying to do something simple.

What are some good craft/decorating magazines and/or websites? i'm 11 turning 12 and i'm looking for some good craft/decorating magazines - any suggestions? i'm talking about thing like making your own pictures frames, cool, simple and cheap ideas to decorate your room, etc. not actually "paper crafts", just more like decorative idea magazines that KIDS can do, not with adult ideas like "remodeling your kitchen", if you get what i mean. im looking for magazines, but a website would be great, too. but im looking for something other than american girl or house beautiful. or HGTV. please help! thanks! p.s. kind of like simple DIY projects to decorate your room, or DIY projects to make cute crafts!!
what are some good arts and crafts for little kids? for volunteer work im hosting a party for girl scouts ages 5-7 (there isn't much for young girls to do and at this age they normally don't make a fuss over what they are participating in) but i cant figure out what kinds of crafts to do for this age group. its a valentine's day party and everything is pink and red. the only crafts i could think of was coloring pages and a craft i remember doing at this age. we took tissue paper, crumpled it up and dipped it in glue, then stuck it to a hear shaped construction paper. only this used a lot of glue and im not sure i want the girls to be covered in glue for the party... can you think of any good arts and crafts for 5-7 year old girl in valentine theme? preferably one that isn't extremely messy. the other thing is that this is my fundraiser for a larger project. im helping out the pinwheels project by donating stuff needed to children's hospitals. so any craft that could possibly in any way be used for the children's hospitals would be even better.
how and where do you store all your kid's school artwork and crafts? Folders are too small and sheet protectors can't accomodate construction paper. We don't have much space but I really hate to trash my kids work. I know I cannot save EVERYTHING but I know I cannot leave their work shoved in every nook possible. No one can really enjoy them, they are getting ruined and it is CLUTTERED! Please help.

I'm making various crafts that deal with old maps (pirate treasure maps, medieval maps) and I wanted to know of a good place that sells various types of parchment looking paper. What's your favorite fall craft to do with your kids? I like taking brightly colored leaves, pressing them between waxed paper and hanging them in the windows. My kid who is 3.5 loves them. I also like making hand turkeys! We make lots, people (yes, like other adults) who visit us make them too, and I hang them around the kitchen for the month.
What are some good crafts a 9 year old can make for arts/crafts show? This show is held in early December, and is heavily attended. There is a place for kids to set up booths and sell their wares. I'm trying to help my daughter think of things that would be good sellers with a decent profit margin. Help me brainstorm! So far we've come up with: - bookmarks made with marbled cardstock (she'll do the marbling) - Christmas greeting cards - dishsoap dispensers like Martha Stewart showed the other day, made of small wine bottles and a liquor spout (if you think this is a good idea, do you know where to buy those small fancy bottles that wouldn't cost that much?) - homemade paper (doubting she has the time or energy to do much of this) Even if you can't think of anything, I'd love if you would take the time to comment on the ideas we already have, including what you think would and wouldn't sell to a "country style" crowd just before Christmas, and what you would think the items could be priced. Thanks a lot for your help!
What crafts can I make? I'm at home today and I can't go anywhere. I am bored and I want to know what crafts I can make with these items. Markers Paper Sculpy clay (and an oven) paint Paper and plastic grocery bags hot glue yarn foil tape normal glue glass beads wire paper clips pencils foam construction paper felt scissors and fabric I am 13, but I don't want some little kid craft. I would like something fun! thanks!!!!!
I need some fun but scientific crafts for kids.? I can use paper plates, jumbo popcicles, pipe cleaners, beads, tape, glue, paper, straws, and maybe a few other things. Any ideas would be great. Why do people make paper flowers? I just don't really understand why people do it. Is it for decorations at a party? Is it a common craft for kids? Is it supposed to be a trick guys use at a bar to impress and "pick up" girls? I don't get it. Why do people make paper flowers? If you've ever done it, what did you do it for?
need ingrediens for paper mache to do craft!? I would like to do paper mache with some kids and I need the ingrediens to make that sticky glue to holt the newspaper together! Anybody??
Can someone help me with craft ideas? I have beads, chenille stems, pom poms, crafting sticks, and a lot of construction paper. I am trying to make crafts for kids in camp ages 7-14. I only have $75 to spend to buy anything extra that is needed for 40 kids. Help
please help me find this kids craft? A few years ago at a book fair I bought this craft kit. It had little strips of paper and instructions on how to fold them into theese 3d stars. I cant remember the name of the book company who made then. Please help...
why do they teach kids a bout Hannukah and Kwanza in school? How are these things different than say.....teaching about....Catholicism and Jesus-and how he died on a tree..... Why cant they help the kids craft a scapula or a rosary and explain the meaning of that. How is explaining a menora okay? Dont those who use the menora use it as a serious part of their religion? Or is it just some cutesy little custom or meaningless tradition. Why teach about Hannukah or the 7 principles of Kwanzaa- why not teach the 10 commandments? What is the difference. Dont those who celebrate this "holiday" take it seriously......or is it just some cutsey custom or silly tradition? Why dont they teach about the meaning of Christmas, instead of pushing Santa Clause and krismis trees and presents? I have 3 children and I cant pay to send them to a good school; so they go to public school. It just really hurts that my son has come home every year for the past 4 years with menoras and Kwanzaa principles in his bakpak always around Christmas; and he doesnt learn what he reallly needs to learn. He says he likes Kwanzaa better than Jesus. It makes me frustrated and angry. Am I just getting overworked or am I right to make thes e observations? My son brought in a little Christmas project the other year and we pasted some things on paper about what we do for Christmas. We put a Nativity scene and a picture of us at midnight mass amongst the christmas trees and pictures of presents being opened and glued glittery snow flakes and ornaments and all. She sent a message and said she asked seth not to speak on those pictures, Becuz it may offend other cultures. I was angry. Was my anger misplaced? What should I do for next year?
I need ideas for things that can be decoupaged with tissue paper.? Please make suggestions. It is for a kid's art/craft class so the simpler, the better. Thanks!
Kids' Craft; Sand & Glue? Project Instructions: "Spray heavy paper with spray adhesive, sprinkle with sand, then use Q-Tip to write message in sand." The above instructions do not work very well. Spray adhesive dries too fast, so doesn't allow time for the kids to write a message. It's for Bible class (4th & 5th graders), & the theme of the lesson is that God's Word is written in stone. So the result of the project is supposed to be that the paper will end up looking like a stone with a message written or chiseled in to it. I thought about using liquid starch instead of spray adhesive or any other kind of glue, & using butcher paper (it has a slicker not so pourous side) instead of heavy paper. But maybe someone else has a better idea. Can anyone help me?
What is an efficient way to store all keepsakes that one's children have made? I have boxes and boxes full of stuff: greeting cards my kids have received, crafts they have created, school papers on which they've done well, and certificates/awards they have earned. I've also got a couple of outfits they wore as babies, the coin collections their grandpa is providing for them, and a bunch of other stuff. I really have weeded out the majority of the clutter, but I feel it's important to keep these things for them as a partial record of their childhood. But what do I do with them? It would be nice to have one place for each kid where I can put all that stuff - neatly and well-organized. Seems like somebody would have thought of this by now, and come up with some product to do the job...
My Girl Scout troop needs a simple craft that will use black construction paper. Any ideas??? We are doing a community service project and have about 15 packages of black construction paper that we received for free. The craft would have to be able to be done in less than 5 minutes. We will have about 2,000 kids participating, so I would like to not have to cut much out to be able to get it done. Any suggestions???
Babysitting 10 year old, fun crafts, science experiments, games, etc.? I am 15 and have a 10 year old niece and 21 month old nephew. I babysit them every weekend, from 4 til late on Friday and 9am-9pm on Saturday. Obviously my nephew needs more attention because he is so young. I take him for walks, read books, play with his toys, play in the backyard, etc, etc. My niece often goes to friends houses while I am there. She is allowed about an hour of TV a day. Sometime, when none of her friends are around, she stays home, but never wants to do anything with her brother and me. She has been kind of moody lately and complains that I never let her do anything fun if I tell her no to something that she is never allowed to do. She is basically a good kid and is smart and very creative. I need some good activities, experiments, games, crafts Anything that is safe for her and her little brother. I need as many suggestions as possible. Anyone know how to make a paper mache volcano or anything like that? Thanks!! I know this is a long question! Thank you! If I made a "kid kit" or "fun box," a box of fun things to have with me for the kids, what should be in it?
paper craft show this weekend? Would anyone head about the papercraft show from radio? Is kind of kids show on this weekend. Thanks

Am I making life for my kids seem to good ? im not tooting my own horn but a friend of mine tonight made a comment thru IMS that im making life seem to good for my kids we throw great theme parties for them ( not expensive just thrifty ). We take them to museums to learn and play. I let them do crafts and play at will, Ill deal with the mess later. Well last night I went thru a photo /scrapbook where I keep some of my best photos, well over the last year Ive taken better pics and instead of throwing them away . I put them onto my kids wall like an art museum( they are taped onto themed scrapbook paper ) my kids are tickled pink they have their own art museum in their rooms Im kinda offended that my friend thinks im making life seem to good for my kids in which I dont think my husband and I are, we just want them to be loved and have memories they will treasure and that continues onto their kids how our kids will do things with their kids I will NOT stop providing great memories for my kids, do any of your so called friends make snide remarks like that to you ? what i mean making life seem to good for my kids, is she means im creating this world for them that doesnt exsist in grown up world. i informed her that her inner child has died and she needs to find it and bring it to life believe me they do have alone time and down time and play alone time and together time, I dont constantly have something planned for them mama, same here, we have so many books for the kids that in my sons room we have a huge bookshelf with nothing but their books, lol thanks guys. this is someone ive known for like a year good idea patsy, see i also make music videos set to vacation videos and stuff, one great thing about my sons autism, his memory is so incredible, lol he knows all locations of what picture is where, lol thanks guys

What is the best way to attach decorations to a pumpkin that you are not carving? We're having a Hallowe'en party with a pumpkin decorating contest. This is for kids ages 3 - 6 and younger. They won't be carving the pumpkins. I plan on having paper, stickers, and other arts and crafts stuff for them to put on the pumpkins. Can we just use Elmer's glue or what else might work to attach things to the pumpkins for kids this age?

Anyone else have trouble cutting paper straight?!? Another of my inane, but sincere questions. :) I find it NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE to cut any type of paper straight. Whether it's a photo from a group of photos, a piece of paper for a craft, or a sheet of wrapping paper -- I rarely ever cut straight! I've had this problem since I was a kid. I'm 34 now, and with all the cutting "practice" I've had as part of daily life, you'd think I'd no longer have this problem. Wrong! :( The only explanation I can think of is that my left eye is slighter higher than my right eye. I noticed this years ago in photos taken of me. No one seems able to see this by looking at me, but in photos it becomes obvious. You can laugh if you want (I know this all sounds odd *grin*), but I wondered if the eye thing could be the reason? If not, why else do you think I have such a horrid problem cutting anything straight? My mom certainly doesn't have this problem! (And no, there's nothing physically wrong with my hand or arm). Thanks for your help! :) Lots of good answers! :) Some were amusing, some practical, and some mixtures of both. My 4 faves (for what it's worth) were Wolfareeen, Madame M, Trivimp and Coolchic277. BUT I'm only able to pick one of you as the "Best Answer". Sorry! I do appreciate you all, however. :)
I need good art/craft projects for kids 8 years old and one 12 year old that works for both of them....? I need an art/craft project. I have two 8 year olds (twins) and one 12 year old and I need to find a project that suits both of them at the same time. All i have is glue, construction paper, pencils, pens, markers, yarn, and tape. And scissors.
