Issues with my dumb family? Ok here is the issue, I am 15 and my parents everyday go to work, so from 7 until 3 im babysitting my 4 year old sister and my 10 year old brother. Now the problem is my brother and sister think they can walk all over me because my parents say i cant lay a finger on them, so all i can do is yell hollow threats. So if my brother gets me rilled up like today and isnt listening and saying that im not the babysitter and that he doesnt have to listen to me and i grab him and sit him down on the couch so he will shut up and listen to me do you think i should get in trouble for that. I mean anything i say or do to these kids my parents turn around and do the opposite, I mean my brother does something so i send him to his room and as soon as dad gets home he goes and whines to dad and dad lets him off scotch free. That gives me no authority over these kids, and why should i bother to babysit if they wont listen, I even told my mom today as she came home from work to take my brother to work with her, "if your going to get on my case because your authority over these kids is an iron fist and a steel tipped whip (metaphorical) and all i can do is say 'Go to your room, dont do that, stop that' while you sit there and yell and spank them, my authority is like a walk in the park for them, so I dont want to babysit them if i dont have any authority over them." my moms response was "Too bad your babysiting no matter what" Do you think thats right? And for any of you religious people who even think to try to pull that honor thy mother and thy father junk, honestly im athiast, my parents are christian im athiast. So yeah. P.S. I dont want the authority to spank them, im not like that, i have different views of how to raise and take care of kids then my parents and honestly most of them have worked so far better than my parents, but this rule, dont lay a finger on them, thats just freakin stupid. Additional Details no i do not get paid, but usually when i ask to go places my parents let me cuz i babysitt, but i mean really? This is just so stupid, my brother just always pulls out the card trick, " Your not the boss, Your not in charge, Im not listening to you, or, I dont have to," and of course since my dad gets home first as soon as he walks in the door and i say Nick dont do that he simply says, "Dads home your not the boss," So I have to go and act like a complete tattle tail and say " Dad well Nick isnt listening to me blah-blah-blah" and whats my dads response? "Nick dont do that." Additional Details Well my parents say if they are acting up to call them and they will come and pick them up, but that still gives me no authority now im just the guy with the cell phone who can call the boss. not the guy who is in charge when mom and dad arent around, and they do have crafts and stuff but whatever they do they always end up fighting and then the story always turns to I didnt do it she did, or i didnt do it he did. I cant take it anymore, sometimes i feel more like the parent, and then when i go nick chew with ur mouth close my parents get on my case about me not being the parent bla bla blah. *Sigh* this is why i have to see my counselor at school alot, and my parents dont even know. Additional Details so all in all is this right and was i in the right when i said i WILL NOT babysitt the kids. Yeah we dont have a cam corder or any recording device, never had a need for one and at the moment cant afford one, as far as hiding their stuff, well my brother was in karate for a couple of years and even though he is smaller than me and weaker, he knows exactly where to hit, where the sun dont shine, and even if i manage to block that, he is like a freakin monkey, he has jumped off the couch grabbed my neck and wrapped his body around my arms while holding me on the neck, honestly to get him off i had to knock the wind out of him by decking him in the gut, i still got in trouble because i hid the stuff, and as for calling them, my parents never let me do anything on my own and make my own decisions im trying to be independent and break away from them, they wont even let me work on a school project alone, they end up doing it for me. So i dont feel right bout crawling back to them for help.
