Free Kids Arts Crafts Ideas Knowledge Base
Anyone have an idea for an easy, relatively mess free art / craft project for kindergarteners and first grader? I'll have between 5 and 10 kids and about an hour to do the project in. The supplies I have access to include construction paper, glue, markers, crayons, scissors, paper plates, tape, yarn, and a few other things that I may be forgetting but really not much else and I can’t really go buy anything so please nothing that requires anything that I would have to buy. Any ideas will help, need something for this afternoon!
Clever and creative ways to show off my kids art? My twins are 21 mo old and I have them do at least one craft/drawing a day. My refrigerator and one entire wall in my dining room is completely full of their art. I am looking for creative ways to show it off that are CHEAP or free! I am willing to weed out some of the old ones, but does anyone have ideas for ways to show off art and change it when need be.
any suggestions on in-house activities for kids this halloween? something productive, creative and simple...? My mom owns an art studio where kids enroll to enhance or develop their talents and skills in the field of music, dance, drama, conversational english, arts and craft. I wanted to surprise her with my an idea of a free halloween special offer where my friends and I get to manage kids and make their time meaningful. It would be a one of a kind experience! a break-through from the stressful and indifferent college life. what do you think?

What are some fun family activities? I have a ten year old daughter and two sons ages 6 and 7. I have very busy weeks and only see the kids in the morning for about 2 hours and then again at night, but only for an hour because it's bedtime. I am a fulltime student and I work so my schedule is very tight. I have Weekends free and have made Saturdays our official family days. We have gone out to lunch and to the movies, we have done art crafts and food crafts, we have played board games and video games together, we have gone skating and to the park for picnics, we've rented movies and ordered pizza, and now we are kind of bored with the same stuff. Before I would say "What are we doing tomorrow guys" and I would get so much excitement from them. Now, all I get is "Whatever you want, it doesnt matter." I really want to get the enthusiasm back. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to entertain children of these ages? I dont have a lot of money (single mother) so it cant be spur of the moment Disneyland trips or anything, but I am open to all feesible suggestions. Thank you so much for your input. Wow. Thanks everyone for these great ideas. I never thought to have a scavenger hunt with them. They will love that. I printed out the responses so I could tell my kids that they can choose from the additonal ideas, but these are all great. Keep em coming
Help picking a college major? I really need some help picking the right college major for me; whenever I ask our college counselors, they seem to direct you to what’s going to make you the most money- regardless if you are interested or not. I know I’m throwing myself to the bowels of the internet, but here it goes: I’m not sure what exactly I wish to do. All I’ve known is that I wish to be an entrepreneur of sorts- however, college isn’t necessary for that, so I didn’t want to choose the generic Business major (no offense to those who did). I excelled in high school whenever I tried (or whenever I wasn’t lazy), particularly in English and History. I’m interested in Computers and Technology, but I’m shying away from some of the math/science-heavy degree plans. It’s not that I’m bad at math; whenever I actually did my homework or studied, I made As and Bs, and whenever I fucked around I got C+ or Fs (or Ds depending on where you live). It’s that I don’t find math “fun” or “interesting”, like I see so many others do. While I can tolerate mathematics and sciences, I question whether or not I will enjoy a career in this field. Not only that, but when it comes to programming one doesn’t need to go to school to learn that craft- there’s a dozens of books in which you can teach yourself at your own pace. Most job openings even say “Bachelor in Computer Science or related knowledge.” I’ve been tooling around with programs like Photoshop and Paint.net for years, with designs and image altering for various people. I also used to make little “Sprites” and games using the “RPG Maker” engine when I was 10. I’m not a pro at it, but its something that I enjoyed doing whenever I had the vision. The downside is that my “skill” is purely digital, and that I suck ass at drawing (that can be changed with practice, though,so that's not an argument). I do enjoy playing video games, and I have for years; however, the same issues I have with this major is the same as I do with the previous major. I love music. Plain and simple. I wish to take music theory classes and learn how to play the piano and the guitar to better my skills. I have aural abilities and I can sing. Whenever the motivation, I like to write. I’ve been free writing since I was a kid, and I have mounds of fiction short stories to various amounts of poems. I developed the interest of film and screenwriting when I was a kid, so I’ve always had an interest in the arts and in entertainment since a kid. Of course, the downside to that is the lack of careers choices that come with Music majors and English majors. I have no desire to teach whatsoever, and I have no long history of playing any instrument- so anything musical would be for my own benefit. I’d hate to go major in English then say 5 years later “I can’t find a good job in this field.” And with film comes the dozens of people who pursue their dreams and come back with absolutely nothing. I don’t care about “fame”, but I’d rather not be assed out, you know? As you can see, I have a multitude of ideas with little to no idea how to put these plans in action. Ultimately, I want to go to school to learn something I normally couldn’t on my own that would give me an edge, but I don’t want to major in something that’ll be a complete waste of time, nor just do something for the money. I mean, if I get the money, that’s all great too… Anyway, I know I’m throwing myself to the sharks here, but: What do you think I should major in? Inb4 any memes. Also, don’t give me that “do what you love to do” crap. I’m not asking you this question for a generic answer that I can get from the nearest homeless man. And if there is a way to somehow combine all of these, let me know!
Does anyone else think that the money schools make/ask parents and guardians to shell out is OUTRAGEOUS? I do not have any children, however I teach and tutor them. I started up a program for families in need. I have about 50 kids that I enrolled in my program, and I tutor them in areas that they are having trouble with. I offer help in Math, English/Language Arts, Science, U.S. History, Social Studies, Geography, Spanish and Test Prep/Study Skills. All of my services are provided ABSOLUTELY free of charge. I also donate and provide backpacks full of school supplies to children whose families cannot afford them, and I also pack a week's worth of bag lunches with the kids one night a week at my house so that they can take them to school and have something nutritious to eat for lunch and snacks. I also make sure that they have plenty to drink because so many children are not getting adequately hydrated in schools these days (I work in nursing and I see sick school-aged kids all of the time and too too many of them come in extremely dehydrated) and teachers aren't paying good enough attention to this issue. But that's a whole separate ballgame. Anyway, I started this program BECAUSE I believe schools are outrageous with their demands for fees and supplies and "suggestions" for donations and such. The supply lists they send home to parents/guardians are outrageous, extensive and very costly. Also, some schools even have programs in classrooms where they want to either have breakfast, snack times or "milk breaks". This is a great idea and all, but it's not if families have to PAY for all of these things. It's not fair for the children whose families cannot afford it. Why should some children have to sit in class and watch other kids have snacks, breakfasts, juices and milks when they have none? Schools should not allow this to happen. They should either provide snacks and drinks for every child, or get rid of the "program" altogether. Some families cannot even afford to send their children to school with adequate lunches (by absolutely NO FAULT of their own), let alone with money for extra snacks, juice and milk! Give these people a break. It's simply not fair. And don't even get me started on book fairs, plant sales, craft fairs, Christmas gift sales and things like that. (Most of these proceeds do not go 100% to the schools, and if they don't, in my opinion anyway, they shouldn't have them. And some families cannot afford to send their children with money for these things as I've said before, so why should some children feel left out? These are not NECESSARY things. The focus here should be on EDUCATION, not begonias!!!!) THEREFORE, for these reasons, I started this program. Tutoring is incredibly expensive (especially if you turn to one of those Sylvan learning centers or something - sheesh!) the price of school lunches really adds up (not to mention, you really don't know if what your child is eating is nutritious at all), and school supply costs (plus those little "extra" fees they like to slide in there all of the time with those notes they send home asking for $5 here, $10 there what seems like every gosh darn week!) add up very, VERY fast. I believe that every child is entitled to a more than decent education, no child should ever go hungry, and no child should suffer emotional distress because s/he is watching another child get something that they cannot have in school, where children are supposed to be focusing on education, not getting their feelings hurt because some of the other kids have a juicebox and s/he doesn't (schools should not even be supporting this). Schools go on and on and on about equality and fairness....but what I described above is not fair or equal at all. And just for the record, I live on a very strict budget as so so many families do. I do my best to clip coupons and buy in bulk for the kids and I get all of my teaching supplies at the dollar store. Sometimes I get lucky and find extra supplies (like newspapers, magazines, paper, half-used notebooks, etc.) tossed out in recycling bins and things like that. I just wanted to let all of the parents out there know that even though I don't have children of my own, I understand how much of a dent school costs can put into your wallet and I'm really trying to help make the load a little lighter for as many families as I can. So, does ANYONE agree that schools are asking (and sometimes even demanding!) way too much? And that the costs are just outrageous? I'd love some feedback on this!!!!
Needing Vauleable knowledge about life!! BADLY? Too live.. or not too live, that is thee question. Well In the past 6 months I've accomplished a lot... an awesome paying job... my own place again... a lil money in the bank.. all the things people work so hard for. So now what? I feel like my life is nothing more than a compilation of games.. we make money... to spend it (thee only thing it's good for) isn't that not the same thing you do in monopoly? or any other game that consist of money? relationships... the biggest game in life... CHESS! you make a move.. they react to it... over and over... cept in chess theirs less cheating... They key to that game.. is remembering.. that most games ALWAYS have a game over... so just expect it...and the relationships that dont end u'll spend yrs wishing it did... Chess is fun.. but after awhile.. ya need a break to much thinking involved...we live just to die... so we make money to spend it we start relationships that will just end and we live to die.. hmmm ever beat the original mario for regular nintendo? after u beat it u can skip to any world u want even the last one if you wanted making it a lot easier to beat it a second time.. well if were living to die... why not just skip to the last step.. seriously why not? A common excuse people use to keep people from killing theirselves is... "theirs a lot of people out there that will miss you... Well... I HAVE TO DIE someday... will they not miss me just as much if nature takes it's course and i die? it'll still hurt them... if I decide I dont want to live.. shouldn't people take some satisfaction in knowing that I died because it was what I truely want.. not because i was old.. or bc i had cancer..? knowing i wanted to should give them a lil piece of mind.. usally people deal with the grief of losing a loved one by saying " he's in a better place now" or "he's a lot happier now"... well if I died because I wanted to... it would be true.. save your grief for the people who actually enjoy the challenging game of life and are taking out by the nemises of nature... wanting someone to endure life bc u love them or will miss them... is selfish.. Another reason for living and probably the biggest one that I struggle is.. family... Have a kid means u have someone that depends on you.. a blank art work that you almost entirely craft into either... the most amazing piece of art.. or into a lil bastard.. kind of like a gigi pet... parts of me want to make that masterpiece simply because I know with my knowledge I could mold an awesome master but to bring a kid into a world when I had such a doubtful attitude towards it... simply because I wanna show off my art work seems selfish... Life just seems like a lot of effort... and either way you end up in the same spot... dead.. This past 5 or 6 months is the happiest I think I've ever been.. and I put a lot of thought into it all.. and living life through just makes no sense to me.. I'm writing not for sympathy... trust me I can make me feel better than prolly anyone else can.. I'm writing because I relize that once I kill myself... there is no tomorrow... it's one of the few games... that doesn't allow you to continue you once the game is over... I wanna make sure this is what I want to do.. although I doubt there is regret after death... it's moreless curiousity that i dont wanna spend rs to answer... perhaps someone can show me something I overlooked... So my future is still yet to be determined.. but my life WILL NOT be lived without purpose. So yea fill free to post comments or ideas or vauleable knowledge you may have thanks ~~ ROB
Does this novel idea sound interesting? I'm a teen author, and I have an idea for a YA novel. I know you've already been asked to say whether you would read a book or not, but can you stand to answer one more? Here goes: Adam has been living in a box his entire life. Not an actual box, of course-but a metaphorical one built by his psychiatrist mother. Adam's mom, who works with troubled kids, makes sure Adam has no choice in life-he must go to a private school with no sports or art, keep his hair at an exact length (Yes, his mom does measure it with a ruler) and hang out with whom his mom considers to be "Good kids". That means anti-social World Of War craft enthusiasts. Adams dad is barely-there, agreeing with whatever his wife says to avoid argument. Then, one day, Adam meets a patient of his mom's: Maeve Foxx, a girl who his mom thinks is the definition of trouble, but is intoxicating and unique to Adam. Maeve hobbies include disapearing into ceiling tiles, sneaking into highschools in the middle of the night and painting all the walls pink, and putting anchovy pizzas into the pillowcases of anyone who gets on her nerves while they're on vacation. When a prank goes seriously wrong, Maeve ends up in Adam's mom's office. Soon Adam secretly befriends Maeve, and for once in his life, he feels like he can do what he likes without being under constant watch by his mother. Soon enough, though, Adam discovers things about Maeve Foxx that makes him question his relationship for her: Adam wants to break free from his suburban life, but at what cost? I know it sounds rough, and this isn't how the book would sound voice-wise, but I was just wondering if you would read it or if it sounds like another book you've read. Please give detailed critique. I would love some more critiques, please.
